British Airways London Eye

David Marks and Julia Barfield Architects
1999-2000

This observation wheel, which hangs out over the Thames, was designed to celebrate the Millennium. The largest in the world, it is one of London's top tourist attractions.

The thirty-two passenger capsules are totally enclosed and, unlike the ferris wheel, are motorized and on the outside of the wheel. One revolution takes about thirty minutes.
