Holy Sepulchre (Round Church)

early 12th century and later

This is one of five surviving round churches in England, its shape having been modelled on one at Northampton, and ultimately on the rotunda erected by Constantine in the 4th century over the supposed tomb of Christ in Jerusalem. The style is defined as Norman (or Romanesque.) The chancel, north chapel, and south aisle are additions from the 15th century and the conical roof was added in the 19th century.
