Although metal was first used for bridges, railroad stations, green houses, and most famously in the London Crystal Palace and Eiffel Tower, it found lesser uses in prefabricated buildings of various sizes, which with separate modules, could be erected quickly. Oddly, these "modern" buildings often used classical elements like arches, columns, and pilasters--all in cast iron.
