Stewart Building/Toronto Athletic Club

E. J. Lennox
1894

Richardson Romanesque building

Lennox favored revival styles, here Richardson Romanesque, characterized by semicircular "Romanesque" arches, relatively squatty columns with decorative capitols, and round towers with conical roofs. See this index for examples of buildings by H. H. Richardson.

Originally, this building was an athletic club, which had in the basement the first indoor pool in Toronto.
