Hôtel van Eetvelde: Addition--page 2 (of two pages)

Victor Horta
original house: 1895-97; addition: 1898-1901

Center: the addition in stone

In contrast to the earlier building next door, here Horta's addition is stone. Still stone is carved and cut in curvilinear forms.

Curved and rectilinear bays on the side

The entrance

Front facade curvilinear window

Note the slender colonnette with the delicate organic capital.

First floor and ground floor windows and metal transom, balcony and grate

Windows today are covered with paper, some of which is torn and all of which is a distraction.
