NationsBank Plaza

Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo
1992

Distant view

This skyscraper of more than 50 stories is clad in granite. A large plaza is part of the bank development and the tower is set at an angle to the street. Elegant details and set backs with beveled corners distinguish this beautiful skyscraper.

The top

Like traditional skyscrapers, this tower has a tripartite structure with distinct base, shaft and top. The pyramidal top echoes the Atlantic Center, a somewhat earlier (1987) Johnson/Burgee skyscraper in Midtown Atlanta (soon to be added to this site).
