This flatiron building with a curved front was designed during the Spanish Civil War (in 1935) but was built several years later. Although the architecture is eclectic, the building has the traditional skyscraper form--with a base (in two colors of marble), a shaft of brick with limestone trim, and a top, in this case an unusual cladding of colorful tiles--owing to the art nouveau or modernista influence from earlier in the 20th century. |
