| The south end of the palace, seen from the UffiziPart of a civic bulding program, this fortress-like building signalled the power of Florence. The building is crenellated with a tall watch tower (the tallest in Florence at 87 meters), which also served as a bell tower. The tower is corbelled outward, and like the edifice it extends from, has a crenellated gallery. | | |
