"Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) is one of the largest and best endowed academic libraries in Germany. SLUB serves as the university library of Dresden University of Technology. It is the state library of Saxony and a major innovation and coordination center for German and European libraries." The library consists of two buildings of identical size and shape, although the fenestration differs. The buildings face each other; Situated between them are glass panels set into the grass. This glass floor is actually the skylight for the underground Reading Room. (See below.)
Large spaceIn more than 40,000 square meters, the building provides about 1,000 study desks and stores a collection of almost 9 million items.
Although these building blocks are fairly simple, the syncopated window treatment adds some interest.
